Situation |
How did you decide on your university? I want to study history,
but my parents want me to go to a college of medicine. I'm in a dilemma: I want to meet my parents expectations,
but I'm interested in history. Which should I choose? |
Prompt 1 |
Universities are the place in which people decide their future finally. Their importance is
far greater than that of high schools. I believe that choosing a univeristy is no more than a personal matter and
is not decided by other person's intention. If you don't want to be bad terms with your parents, how about taking
examinations of both universities? If you really want to study history, you can intentionally fail the examination of medicine's. |
Prompt 2 |
I think it is the most important to let your parents know your will. Have you ever tell your
parents your thought? I can understand your thought that you want to meet their expectations very much. But if you
give up studying history, you may be regret your choice in future. I want you to choose the university which you
"really" want to go. I decided on my univerisity by deciding what I wanted to study and what job I want to be. I
hope you'll make a decision what is not regretable. |
Prompt 3 |
"If I were you, I would choose the one that I really want to go. Medicine and history is in the
opposite direction. Maybe you could talk to your parents about what you're thinking about and discuss about it.
Studying history msut be interesting but you won't have much choice for a job. If you still want to study history,
then I think you should." |
Prompt 4 |
You should do what you want to do. Study history. |
Prompt 5 |
You are really in very difficult situation. But, if I were you, I would choose what I'm interested in,
because I think people cannot succeed in what they don't really hope. |
Prompt 6 |
I think it's better for you to study history because you might regret not having chosen to study it
after you entered a college of medicine. I think it's important for you to decide on your own will. |
Prompt 7 |
I think you should decide what you want to study. I do understand that you want to meet your parents expectations,
myself, sometimes experience such kind of feelings. But, it's your life, not your parents'. If you choose to study medicine,
it sure will satisfy your parents. But what about you? Maybe you'll feel O.K. now, but some years later, I'm sure you would regret
what you had done. Do what you want to do. |
Prompt 8 |
I don't think it is good to think seriously, because you can go to a college you want to go to whenever you want to.
You shouldn't think about your parents' expectation, and you should respect your own thoughts. |
Prompt 9 |
Just ask your parents why they want you to go to a college of medicine. Then you can think about it a little easier,
I guess. In my case, they said nothing to me, which was also difficult because I had nothing to want to. |
Prompt 10 |
Surprisingly, there was same situation! A friend of mine in my high school had same problem and he chose medicine.
I thought it was good choice. To be a doctor is socially successful and very honorable. I know a person who works in survey company studys
history as a hobby. He talks about history liek a professor. You can also study history in leisure time. I think you should choose medicine. |
