Beppu has a humid subtropical climate, and historically, the average high temperature in May is 21°C to 22°C, with pleasantly warm and breezy days and cool nights, with clear skies and low humidity.

Getting to Beppu
- From Fukuoka: Take the Sonic Limited Express train from Hakata Station to Beppu Station (2 hours)
- From Tokyo: Fly nonstop from Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) or Narita Airport (NRT) to Oita Airport (OIT) (1 hour and 45 minutes). Airlines like JAL, ANA, and Solaseed fly out of Haneda, while Jetstar and Peach operate from Narita. From Oita Airport, take the airport bus to Beppu (50 minutes).
- From Osaka: Take the Sanyo Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka Station to Kokura Station (Kitakyushu City), then transfer to the JR Sonic Limited Express straight to Beppu Station (total time: 4 hours and 20 minutes).
