PanSIG 2023 Official Conference Dinner

Socialize, network, and relax at the official conference dinner! (Registration closed May 2nd for the conference dinner.)

  • Price: 5,000 yen
  • Description: All you can eat and drink (beer, wine, cocktails, and various soft drinks). Enjoy this informal get together in this spacious and pleasant environment.
  • Food preferences: Vegetarian and vegan food will be served for those who request it.
  • We are providing a free bus service from the campus to the venue. The buses will leave from the bus stop area outside Koyama Hall at 18:00 (see the building marked (ten) on KSU's campus map).
    Sign up for the bus: Everyone who registered for this dinner received an email on May 5th with the title "Transportation to JALT PanSIG 2023 Conference Dinner (Sat May 13)"; this email contained a link to a form to fill out.

Hike up Mt Hiei (Friday afternoon, May 12)

We'll meet at Shugakuin station on the Eizan Line at 13:00. The hike is quite tough for inexperienced hikers. Bring plenty of water and some energy snacks. Wear strong shoes. The views from the top are fabulous. The mountain azaleas should be in bloom. We will walk down by a different route to Yase station (also on the Eizan train line.) People who are tired can take the cable car down to Yase (540 yen one way). Total walking time 4-5 hours. Trail running (Friday afternoon, May 12)

Trail running up Daimonji, along the Kyoto Trail on Higashiyama, and down to Fushimi Inari. Return to central Kyoto via JR or Keihan train lines. Starting at 13:30 at Demachiyanagi Station. Running time 3~4 hours but people can leave the run at many places on the way. Led by Paul, a Kiwi in Kyoto. We will try and cater to as wide a range of experience levels and wishes as possible. Runners will be responsible for providing and carrying their own clothing, fluids, food and first aid equipment.


Walk to Seiryuden and Kiyomizudera (Friday afternoon, May 12)

Walk to Seiryuden and Kiyomizudera with Kyoto Sangyo University ESS Tour Guide Section students and a member of the KSU academic staff. Meet at 13:30 at Higashiyama subway station exit 2 on the Tozai line. An easy walk up Shogunzuka and through the forest to Seiryuden with its magnificent views over Kyoto and then through the forest down to Kiyomoizudera. The ESS students are experts on Kiyomizudera and can give you a guided tour of this temple. You can explore the winding cobbled streets crammed with shops and places to eat at your own leisure afterwards. Total walking time 2 hours. (Entrance fee for Seiryuden is 500 yen. Entrance to the Kiyomizudera grounds is free when you enter from the back gate, but you will need to pay if you wish to enter the temple buildings)
