PanSIG 2025 Overview

PanSIG 2025PanSIG2025 will be held May 16-18, 2025 at Kanda University of International Studies in Mihama Ward, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture (see map). The conference chair is Robert Dykes; the site co-chairs are Jennie Roloff Rothman and Prateek Sharma.

2025 Theme: Agency and Autonomy in Language Education

Autonomy includes the ability to make informed and personally relevant choices. Agency represents putting these choices into action. Learners and educators should be able to confidently select the best tools and practices and then take action to achieve their goals. PanSIG2025 will allow each SIG to showcase their approaches towards maximizing autonomy and agency for both teachers and students. Participants will explore these concepts and find ways to realize them in their own praxis.

To help support the theme and goals of this year's conference, we have…

  1. A PanSIG First: SALC Exhibition Showcase
This year, JALT is introducing a new presentation format called the "showcase." PanSIG 2025 is being held at KUIS, home to the largest SALC in Japan. Thanks to this and this year's theme we decided to introduce this new style highlighting Self Access Learning Centers (SALCs) from all around Japan and even one from Mexico. [Read more]
