What grants are available?
There are up to five conference grants prepared up to 50,000 yen based on needs (travel expenses/distance) and a conference registration waiver may be awarded, depending on the quality of applications to those who do not have research financial support from their institutions or workplace.
Who can apply for the grants?
- Anyone who is a JALT member in good standing by the deadline of application (January 1st). (Link: How to join JALT)
- Applicants should be working full-time or part-time in the field of language education. Any level, preschool to tertiary, as well as individual instructors working for themselves, companies, or language schools, are eligible.
- Applicants who are also enrolled as part-time or full-time graduate students are eligible.
- Grant awardees must have a Japanese bank account.
What is the deadline for applying for grants?
Applicants must submit their applications by 23:59 (JST) on Saturday, January 31st, 2022 (extended deadline). Applicants will then be informed of the results after the vetting period is completed by the end of February 2022. Recipients will be individually notified by email. Grant recipients will also be announced on the PanSIG website, in the 2022 PanSIG Post-Conference Journal, and will be invited to accept their grant approval (pending any requested revisions to their application) at the 2022 PanSIG Conference in Nagano.
